my mom and I are arguing over which we should do. what do you all think? we haven%26#39;t been to Maui in 10 years and I don%26#39;t know when we%26#39;ll go back. I want to go for 10...but she%26#39;s worried about the cost.
btw, we%26#39;re staying at Ka%26#39;anapali Beach Hotel. :)
7 days vs 10 daysThe biggest cost of going to Maui Is the airfare, I just returned from a 10 day 11 night trip, your two travel days don%26#39;t really count, after 7 days I wasn%26#39;t ready to leave after 10 I was. If you really want to cut costs rent a condo (FROM THE OWNER) you can cook some meals and pack your own lunch saves alot of $$$$ Just my 2 cents. Have a GR8 trip
7 days vs 10 daysI Agree, last time we only stayed for 7 nights and were trying to see what the cost would be to stay longer. We leave next week for 10 days with kids and I%26#39;m excited to enjoy a leisurely stay and the maui way...relax and do what pleases you. There is a day or two of relaxing by the pool or whatever...and still plenty of time to do all your itenerary items. Just my 2 cents. KBH is great place to stay...if we didn%26#39;t have kids I%26#39;d be in a hotel. Have a wonderful time...book 10 days..you won%26#39;t regret it. Either way, you%26#39;ll have Maui depression as soon as you start packing to head back home!
Nobody ever had too much time on Maui! I second the idea of skipping a hotel -- one room, one bathroom -- and getting a condo. You%26#39;d have SPACE, two baths, a kitchen (no actual %26#39;cooking%26#39; required), a private lanai.
If I%26#39;m awake at night I want to be able to get up, go into the LR, make a cup of hot chocolate in the kitchen and read without waking my DH.
I agree I think 10 days, yes you can eat in alot or eat on the cheap and maybe 1 nice dinner and do get a condo by owner that does save alot of money.. when are you going?
You need to make up for those 10 years. I%26#39;d go for 14 days :)
last november went for 7 days with extended family. we were pretty busy and 7 days was too short.
leaving TOMORROW for 14 days with just my DW to do nothing. We%26#39;ll let you know.
:-)
We always do 9 - 10 days and are never ready to come back. If you can swing it, you won%26#39;t regret the extra time.
we%26#39;re going sometime in very early January. Probably leaving sometime between the 1st and the 3rd.
I agree go for 10-12 days!!
I just got back from a 7 day w/ two grammas and 3 kids and DH. it feltlike it went by soo fast. I was trying to add ina few days but it got close to the end of summer, prices etc that we did a week . but next time for sure going for at least 10 days. you can save like others said eating in a few extra days. like next time our condo has bbqs and instead of eating out and rushing ot get ready etc i plan on doing a few nights just bbqing and maybe eating b%26#39;fast or lunch out on those days. we cut back by eating just dinners out and bought food for bfast and lunch --
it will all work out in the end.
Many resorts are offering 5th night free, some even the third night free. If you are not already locked into a place to stay, look for one of those deals. That way you get to stay for 10 and pay for a week.
