Dec rainy in Kapalua?

I heard that Dec is the rainy season in Maui, how bad will it get? I am planning to have an outdoor wedding in Kapalua around the third week of Dec, will this be ok?

Thanks in advance!!!

Dec rainy in Kapalua?

The average rainfall for Kapalua in December is 2.52 inches. January is typically the wettest month with an average a little over 3 in. You might have a brief tropical shower but then you will experience the beauty of a rainbow. Congratulations!!

Dec rainy in Kapalua?

Winter/early spring are wet, windy and cool over the northernmost parts of all the Hawaiian islands. Kauai and Oahu get the worst; Maui somewhat; Big Island only a little.

I%26#39;d have an indoor alternate location available -- for wind as much as for rain.

Odds are in your favor, but a Plan B is a good idea. If you are using a wedding planner or planning through a hotel/resort - they should have an alternative for you.

Unless you encounter a storm ... the showers come and go. I have seen weddings delayed a bit as a shower passed over. Nice rainbows, though.

Aloha swimBear,

Weather can be a bit unpredictable in Dec. around Kapalua. Last Dec. we had the worst Kona storm in 50 yrs hit Maui. The whole island was affected and since we were in Kapalua at the time I can tell you there is no way there could have been an outdoor wedding during this major subtropical storm. I would hope for the best and as a previous poster suggested have plan B in place. The Ritz has a beautiful room that I think can be rented and used for weddings etc. You may want to check with them and see if that would be a possibility. If you had the wedding in one of their beautiful open air rooms overlooking the grounds and ocean, that might be a nice compromise and then who cares if it is raining?!
