Distance across Waikiki

How long to you think it would take to walk from Queen Kapiolani Hotel to the Hilton Hawaiian Village? Walking on the streets/sidewalks?

What about walking on the beach? Cost of a taxi between the two place? Would using The Bus be practical this route?

Thanks in advance for any guesstimates or input. I%26#39;m helping someone at work plan a 1/2 business 1/2 pleasure trip %26amp; need information different than what my own vacation experience covers.

mahalo, suze

Distance across Waikiki

It%26#39;s about 1.5 miles. I%26#39;ll let you figure out the time because it depends on how fast one walks. As a guide, 3 miles per hour is about average, but that does not include window shopping, people gawking, etc. LOL Typically walking on sand is slower, but maybe more enjoyable. Either way could be quite warm if the sun is beating down.

Taxi would likely be between $7 to $10 (not including tips), and depending on traffic could be more.

Buses are $2 one way or a 4 day pass for $20. It can work. I would say better than walking since one would not arrive all hot and sweaty at the destination.

Very helpful, thank you so much. Perhaps a combination of taxi in the morning, then walking back would work (for a convention at HHV, staying at Queen Kap).

Suze, no reason to deal with taxis when staying at the Queen K. The bus is super convenient and will get you there just about as fast.

There is a bus stop directly in front of the hotel, a major one across the street, and the ';end of the line'; regional terminus just on the other side of the zoo%26#39;s ';front yard'; (along Monsarrat Ave.)

And, the large majority of the frequent buses which pass by these stops will go right in front of the HHV on their way to Ala Moana Center. (Just make sure not get on the eastbound one towards Sea Life Park).

I believe routes 8, 19, 20, 23, 42 (westbound), 98A, 201, 202 %26amp; 203 will get you where you want to go. Note these are from the list of those using the Kapahulu Ave stops in front of the QK which also are shown as stopping at the main Ft. DeRussy stop right next to the HHV.

Hi Suze,

Been a few years since we stayed at QK, but have reserved for Feb %26#39;09 (subject to a week before arrival check of the competition).

If within your associates per diem, upgrading to an ';Ocean (%26amp; Diamond Head) View Studio'; is worth the extra $%26#39;s: In addition to unobstructed wonderful views, the room and especially the lanai are much larger. Also, if desired, requesting a king bed, prior to arrival, will considerably increase the odds vs two twins.

P.S. If you don%26#39;t mind, please relay impressions upon return.

Thanks for the details and excellent suggestions. I%26#39;ll follow up on everything %26amp; definitely report back. Thanks again.
