Favoriate Hawaiian music?

I%26#39;d love to purchase a CD (or download some songs iTunes) with some wonderful Hawaiian music. I thought this would be a fun way to add to our planning for our trip next summer. Any recommendations?

Favoriate Hawaiian music?

I like any hula recordings, anything by Iz (Israel Kamakawiwo%26#39;ole) and the Brothers Cazimero.

I agree with pzp, just about anything by IZ is great. My favoriite (if I had to choose one) would be ';In dis life';.

Another vote for Iz, ';Facing Future'; is my favorite Iz album. Anything by Keola Beamer as well, he plays hawaiian slack key guitar and sings. Some songs are in old hawaiian language. ';Wooden Boat'; is the CD I play the most.

My favorite is Keali%26#39;i Reichel - Melelana ... and I also like Iz, Hapa and some Kauai CD that came free when I bought some tunes on the Northshore. I think that is an excellent way to get in the Hawaiian mood. :)

I also recommend IZ, his ';Facing Future'; CD and ';E ALA E'; which has the song ';Hele on to Kauai';. Makaha Sons of Ni%26#39;ihau, HAPA, Keola Beamer for slack key guitar, Keali%26#39;i Reichel%26#39;s CD Melelana. I love putting these on in the car and imagining I%26#39;m driving on Kauai.(Easiest to do during the summer:))

My favorite is also IZ, next is Hapa.

Thank you for all of the great recommendations, including links to past posts. I had fun checking them out on iTunes and downloading a dozen or so to get started with.

If I%26#39;m this excited about our trip which is 9 months away, I can only imaagine how it%26#39;ll be as it gets closer. I think planning is half the fun. TA is a great site! Thanks again everyone.

People might not consider Marty Dread%26#39;s music as Hawaiian as it has more of a reggae beat but we love him. He appears every Monday night at the Hard Rock Cafe in Lahaina.
