I have been diagnosed with having a very small one
only blood clot in the right lung which I don%26#39;t feel
at any time.I have been warned off flying but as I
am taking the right tablets and wear the medical sox
as directed I cannot see a problem.
Any sane advice by those who have been in this type
of situation would be gratefully appreciated.NO WILD
THEORIES PLEASE. ALL the best from NoelinOz
travelling with very small blood clot in lung?
Talk to your doctor and do what she/he says.
travelling with very small blood clot in lung?
Ok I am not a doctor....but my wife was an RN and I was a MICPM with the fire service for many years.
Together we both have see a lot of these situations you described
What you have described is a pulmonary embolis......and they have a history of high mortality. Even is a full blown ICU inn hospital, your chances would not be great
At home you need to take your meds and follow ALL doctors orders...
I know you cant feel it...but like many blood vessel diseases they are there....and what you cant feel still can have fatal effects...from an onset you have less than 4 to6 min to treat in some cases.....
The change in pressures found in flying will effect your entire body...and could possibly prove fatal to you. They pressurize the cabin to about 6-7000 ft.
Feet and limbs swell, lung tissue expands....you are rollong the dice.Even breathing Oxygen is of no help when reduced ATm pressure is on the body.
Please.... reconsult you Doctor...tell him your desires and please listen to him. I wish you a long and happy life...
I certainly can%26#39;t advise YOU -- other than to listen to your MD -- but I can assure you I would not get on a long haul flight with a know pulmonary embolism. Yikes!
There is enough worry about developing DVT on long flights for people who haven%26#39;t already got a clot, and the fear there is the clot will go to the lung ...
Now if your clot is somehow different than a pulmonary embolism, your MD should tell you. Who has warned you off flying? If your doctor, then ignore at risk of your life. If people who don%26#39;t have medical training, talk to your doctor.
The key words being doctor, physician, MD ... not travel forum folks.
I am not an MD, but I am an RN.Please reconsult with your doctor and listen to his advice. Clots are serious business and take only seconds to minutes to travel to vital parts of your body like your heart and brain, even though you won%26#39;t feel it. The change in pressure in an airplane and the long flight are dangerous to anyone with a history of this. If you have been warned off flying by your doctor, please listen to him.
Check to see what it costs to have a body shipped from Hawaii to Australia, your family may need to know.
Look we are travelers here not YOUR doctor. Any and ALL advice you get here is NOT going to help you. If your doctor says don%26#39;t fly..DON%26#39;T FLY.
Sounds like you need another option.
Check out Vacationstogo.com for cruises.
They have a lovely one that starts and ends in Sydney for 10 days Nov 22 and goes to New Caledonia, Isle of Pines and Vanuatu. Might look like Hawaii 80 years ago and no flying!
Inside cabin prices start at $699++
You won%26#39;t have to fly and there is a doctor on board.
I have used this company for years and can recommend them.
.
Hi People,
Many thanks to every body.Time will tell with
this problem. These forums are the real deal of
communication. I hope that one day I might get
a chance to have a Bo-Peep at that Admiral%26#39;s
Club just out of Curiosity. It sounds to my way
of thinking to be a bit Special.Any thoughts on
this one?.
All the very best to Everybody--NoelinOz..
%26lt;%26lt;I have been warned off flying%26gt;%26gt;
Sorry to say but if my doctor told me not to fly, I wouldn%26#39;t.
Noelin.....
Your last question is totaly strange;Admrials Club and little bo Peep ?????
Seriously, I would not , in your present condition, travel anywhere untill my doctor gave me a clean bill of health and that the clot had totaly gone.
OK.......
Go talk again to your doctor...you sound in denial of your serious conditon......ignoring it might be the last thing you ever do.....listen to him not us.
Follow exactly the doctors instructions and ALL limitatons.. even though you dont like it......please.
And as said, this is not a medical board..it is a bunch of travlers.... not the Mayo Clinic doctors.
noelinoz,,
I use these boards alot,, look at how many posts I have,, but ,, I would NEVER come to the boards for medical advice, or to try and second guess what my DOCTOR told me.
You only get one life.
I think the cruise option is a good one if doctor oks it.
