I am taking the family to Maui next summer. We will be at a time share for 7 nights, I am thinking of staying for 10 days. Can someone please suggest a good place to stay for those extra 3 nights. We are a family of 5, kids all under 12 and would like to be in the Kaanapli area. Hotel rooms are too small and expensive and I am not sure condos will do less than 1 week. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Where to stay for 3 extra nights?
Price range?
Hotels probably are not a good option since most strictly limit the rooms to 4 and you would need two rooms.
Where to stay for 3 extra nights?
Under $250 a night would be nice if possible.
We did the same thing a few years ago. Stayed at the Marriott Maui Ocean Club for a week after staying 3 nights at a condo in Wailea. (Ekahi Village) Most condo owners have a minimum stay, but we found a place that had the 3 nights available we needed. We fit between two other customers. There were actually many places that had our 3 nights available in August. You just need to ask the owner. This is something you have to do when you get closer to your trip. I doubt an owner would rent you 3 nights right now. They want to wait for a longer renter.
If you will be 7 nights in Kaanapali area, you might like to try South Maui for the other 3--an easier drive to the airport, too. There are a lot of Kihei and Maalea condos.
Some owners will rent for that amount especially if it is a fill-in date. I actually rented from Gail Scott at Maui Kaanapali Villas. She has a wonderfully, remodeled unit that would be perfect for a family of five. You can view her site at www.condoatkaanapali.com. The pool area has just been completed and the beach is great. A restaurant is onsite that is reasonably priced with great food. Best of luck. You will find something.
Where would I look for condo listings in Maui?
vbro.com
Look at www.VRBO.com. You will find vacation condo rentals direct from the owner.
Aloha!
Kaanapali Beach Club(old Embassy Suites) will allow 2 adults and 3 kids. You get a nice sized suite, a good pool, and buffet breakfast for 2 each day!

If we go in 09 we will stay at our usual condo in Kihei but... We are thinking of spending a couple of nights in Hana first. That way we will get to take it slow and easy when we explore that side. We, in the past, have rushed through the drive and had precious few hours to really enjoy the Hana area. Looking forward to the more tropical feel for a few days...
Aloha
Mike
