Ok, so I%26#39;m sold on Kauai (over Maui) for our Honeymoon next May. But virtually every hotel gets 4-5 stars and every one says ';great for Honeymoons';....So which one to choose?! I%26#39;d like not to feel one of 500 couples, and don%26#39;t really like high rise hotels (ideally I%26#39;d like villas in the grounds - but hotel service). Money not a major issue (within reason)....
Any suggestions gratefully recieved...

Honeymoon location - HELP
If it was me, I would choose the new hotel opening in Poipu. It used to be the Poipu Beach Hotel and it was wonderful. Small and on a great beach. The time shares on either side are also very nice so being next to those complexs is not an issue, IMO. It is also very close (walking distance) to our favorite restaurant on the island, Plantation Gardens. From the website, this place looks wonderful.

I%26#39;m not sure if the Princeville will be opened yet from their renovations, but that would be a close second in my opinion. But I understand the rates will go up considerably. I would not get a condo for a honeymoon; I know I would prefer the amenties of a full service hotel on my honeymoon.
Honeymoon location - HELP
I just don%26#39;t feel comfortable recommending a hotel that hasn%26#39;t even opened. If you can hold off with a decision about selecting Koa Kea until the first of the year it might be better. The Hyatt, though large, really doesn%26#39;t feel that way. I would choose that. The latest I have gotten on the Princeville Hotel is they are behind in starting the renovations. That means they could be late in reopening. I might think about booking there (May is glorious on the North Shore) and also booking The Hyatt. Then if the St Regis (Princeville) isn%26#39;t ready you have an alternative. The room rates at the St Regis are within your ';money isn%26#39;t an issue'; budget. The views are out of this world. Can I go?
I agree with the Hyatt. We have never stayed there but have been on the property and itis beautiful.
Isn%26#39;t there another hotel going in near Kauai Lagoons?
Well, the great thing about Kauai is there are no highrises, as it is against the law - nothing can be taller than a coconut tree. Personally, if I wanted quiet/no crowds, I would head to the Northshore . . . stay at a lovely place like Jebetts! The beauty there alone would make my honeymoon perfect - just my opinion. Good luck! :)
There is a Ritz Carlton going in near Kauai Lagoons. We tried to drive out there last July but it was blocked off. I have no idea when it will open.
