Take the Weather with You

On Hawaii Weather Today dot com:

SATURDAY

Mostly sunny with isolated showers. Highs 79 to 87. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

SATURDAY NIGHT

Partly cloudy with scattered showers. Lows 61 to 73. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.

We%26#39;re flying into Kauai Sept 26-Oct1, should I be concerned with the predicted 20% - 50% chances of rain? I realize the forecasts don%26#39;t extend that far but wonder if there will be any significant change in the predicted patterns?

Gracias in advance for any weather reassurances! Going on a Napali Catamaran on Sept. 27.

It will rain somewhere on the island every day. It is usually passing showers. I wouldn%26#39;t be concerned. Highs of 87 sounds good to me. At 50% you have a greater chance of a longer shower. Not to worry. The forecast changes quickly.

Take the Weather with You

The last time I looked before our week there it said 40% every day.

We saw one rain shower during the day for all of 1 minute or so. I think there were light showers at night freqently, but I was sleeping so didn%26#39;t really care.

It%26#39;ll be great. It%26#39;s Kauai, what else could it be?

First of all, any forecasts for more than 4-5 days out have very little accuracy. So start taking the forecasts more seriously in a week.

Second, for any forecast out more than a day, the National Weather Service (which is where hawaiiweathertoday.com gets its forecast), will put 20% chance of showers in a Hawai%26#39;i prediction. That I assume is due to the instability in tropical areas. So when it says ';mostly sunny'; with a 20% chance of rain, at least 4 out of 5 times that day will be sunny with no rain.

No rain, no rainbows!

We were there from 8/31 to 9/8 and I saw it rain twice during the day and it was for about 5 minutes (one time pretty hard). It did rain at night a few times but we were in for the night so no big deal.

It couldn%26#39;t be paradise with out a little liquid sunshine.

Enjoy your trip.

Cheers everyone!

I love the rain, don%26#39;t get me wrong, just concerned our catamaran trip may cancel, but if it does, it does... can always reschedule or do something else.

***¡excited happy Kauai bouncing dance!***

Kauai is the wettest spot on earth....but like others have said, it does not typically rain for days on end (at least in September).

You will be fine I am sure.

Aloha from Kaua%26#39;i!

The weather is great here! After about 5 days of very humid, still weather our tradewinds have returned and it is now lovely and comfortable - highs in the mid to high 80%26#39;s and lows in the 70%26#39;s.

Can%26#39;t guarantee anything obviously - but there isn%26#39;t anything in the forecast that I watch on TV to make me think anything is upcoming to be concerned about.

Don%26#39;t stress about it - our weather has been really, really dry this year - here on the South Shore we have gotten almost no rain except in the night and things are starting to dry out pretty good - we actually need rain pretty badly!

Cee.

It is time to relax, take it easy, and as the others have stated, the weather is fantastic.

We are and have been in a drought condition for quite sometime, and the rain will be mostly windward and mauka, and in the late night or early mornings.

Generally just a passing band of tradewind showers.

Consider yourself receiving a whole thread of reassurances from a large group of wonderful people.

Bring your smiles and your aloha....and be prepared for a wonderful time.

Again, you will have some passing showers once in a while, no biggie. We do not even move off the beach, or just go back into the water.

Have fun, and let island time seep into your life.

Denny

Agreed was just there for two weeks and saw some rain but you could always wait 10 minutes ir so or head to another part of the island and it was sunny. We had no issues, just got back today and lvoed every moment!

Note that Kaua`i per se is not the wettest spot on earth; that%26#39;s up on Mt Wai`ale`ale in the inaccessible center of the island. While it gets wetter the farther up towards the center you go, most visitors will never experience it.
