Marriage Proposal Location

My brother and his girlfriend will be joining us in Kauai in late October and he wants to propose to her while there. He asked where would be a good location with a few stipulations - uncrowded and scenic. The grassy area next to Princeville Hotel would be great during sunset but construction may ruin that location. I also thought Larsons Beach as it%26#39;s so secluded. Any Suggestions?

Aloha from Kaua%26#39;i!

It sounds like you need to be on the North Shore for this big event? So I%26#39;ll only recommend that area.

I definitely wouldn%26#39;t recommend the Princeville Hotel property in October - as you noted, the hotel will be shut down for renovation at that point and no telling how much construction activity will be going on - or if the grassy area will even be available.

';Uncrowded and scenic'; - well, the uncrowded bit is pretty hard unless you do it early in the morning or in the evening, and I%26#39;d guess this might be a

sunset-type event?

I%26#39;d suggest Lumaha%26#39;i Beach - you%26#39;ll need to scramble down a dirt path to get to it, but it shouldn%26#39;t be crowded in the early evening normally - very scenic (not swimmable though!) and usually not crowded at that time of day.

Hanalei Bay is very wide and long, I%26#39;m sure you could find an uncrowded area on it - and it is certainly scenic - maybe out by the end of the pier?

Again, early morning or evening time for the most uncrowded situations.

Good luck - fun to plan out.

Last I was down to Lumahai the path was quite easy, but could certainly have changed.

How about one of the ';pocket'; beaches west of Anini proper?

If they will be staying east, how about during sunrise on their lanai, (or on the beach if their unit does not face the ocean.) I can%26#39;t think of a more intimate and romantic thing...

Does ti have to be on the N. Shore???

How about a nice romantic resturant and have the waiter put the ring in a glass of champagne? OR take a bottle of champagne and a couple glasses to a sunset and put the ring in the glass?

Love the idea of the ring in the champagne....

A friend of mine put the ring in an ice cream cone.

Guess it depends on what they enjoy doing together.

I think North Shore is the best too...and since the lookout point by princeville may have construction issues... I 2nd Lumahai... just gorgeous.. just don%26#39;t go out on the rocks - rogue wave deal... I also like Ke%26#39;e or tunnels at sunset.. and sometimes you get people and sometimes you don%26#39;t... super romantic to me on any of the beaches...

Hey, speaking of that, how IS the sunset from Ke%26#39;e?

I%26#39;ve wondered if it is worth the trip up there for the sunset followed by a nice dinner in the Hanalei/Princeville area.

I think any of the north shore beaches are great for sunset.. I think I like tunnels the best though because its a bit futher down the coast and you can see the cliffs jetting out a bit more... its just further back than ke%26#39;e but again both are really nice... I%26#39;m bringing wine next time...it totally romantic... I swear there are some parts of kauai that are so pretty you%26#39;ll cry its so beautiful... and I%26#39;m not even like that... now my husband he crys at commercials...

You gotta try north shore for sunsets... totally awesome.

I just sent the link to my brother. I always talk about how helpful Tripadvisor is and here he is getting advise on a marriage proposal! Since we%26#39;ll be doing most of our events together, his girlfriend may be suspicious if, all of a sudden, they are going out alone, sooooooo.....

My wife came up with:

Dinner reservations for four at TidePools.

Leaving Sealodge, my wife suddenly gets a terrible stomach ache(He He He) so they have to go on without us.

Several of the ideas above are fantastic! He%26#39;ll have fun reading the posts. Thanks a ton!!
