Okay so here is where my head is going right now, this could all change but thought I%26#39;d see if anyone has any opinion on my tentative plans.
We will be a group of 12 to 14 adults and 5 children %26amp; not looking to spend a ton on a wedding, the cost of getting everyone down there has been big enough! most of us will be guest at the WKORV %26amp; WKORVN
Feb 14th
1) Small Beach Ceremony in the morning (before the beach is crowded)
2) Let everyone have the afternoon to themselves
3) 4pm - 6pm TERALANI Sunset Dinner Cruise
teralani.net/reservationrequest/…
Dinner Sunset Menu: Italian buffet of: Caesar salad, grilled vegetable ratatouille (eggplant, zuchini, tomato, onion, garlic %26amp; pasta), baked penne pasta with petters, mushrooms and tomato sause, slow baked chicken breast in Alfredo sause, grilled Ono marinated in clam garlic basil pesto, sliced French baguette with butter and assorted desserts
4) Meet back at the resort for a small wedding cake %26amp; have some cocktails at the bar while the kids swim in the pool(s)
*Thought i%26#39;d mention my first plan was to just have a BBQ at the resort so this is a little upgraded from that.
Tentative wedding plans for Feb 14th, what do you think?
Dinner sounds heavy ... in the heat and the stress ... time zone change ... on the water.
Is this menu for your group or everyone?
Tentative wedding plans for Feb 14th, what do you think?
This is the menu for the entire dinner cruise that they always have.
And sounds like it%26#39;s buffet style so portions can be made to the individuals liking.
Didn%26#39;t seem like a bad deal for $69 with drinks included.
I did a Teralani snorkel cruise last October and they are great. Very entertaining and always something for everyone.
Swirlz, if I may offer a suggestion...just do the Sunset cruise! The pupu%26#39;s they serve are great and more than enough to feed us. We%26#39;ve never found the dinner cruises to be worth the extra money and the 2 times we%26#39;ve done it the food was pretty ordinary.
It%26#39;ll also save you $10 or so per person. Just an idea. We like both the Teralani and the Kapalua Kai, I think Teralani has a 3 drink limit...Kapalua Kai doesn%26#39;t (as of March)
THANKS!
I hadn%26#39;t even heard of Kapalua Kai. Looking at their site now.
I figured the dinner cruise might be more suited for a wedding party opposed to just snacks but i%26#39;m looking into it.
Most dinner cruises aren%26#39;t worth the money you pay for them. If you have anyone in your wedding party that gets seasick, this won%26#39;t be good for them!! Please let them know what your are planning and find out how many may be affected. Won%26#39;t be much of a party if anyone is hanging over the rail during dinner!!
ya we all voted for the cruise and most have already been on one in one form or another.
However I am very excited about Kapalua Kai. I love that suggestion as they have a much better drink list and wonderful sounding appetizers from the Hyatt.
I think we%26#39;ll all be fine on a 2 hour cruise. . now a 6 to 8 hour one might cause some ill stomachs :-)
well, I imagine your date is set already, but I don%26#39;t understand why people get married on Valentine%26#39;s Day. Sure it%26#39;s nice on your actual wedding, although you get married on a day when a lot of other people do the same, but ...
1) The next year, you lose a romantic holiday. Like having a birthday on Christmas, combining anniversary with Valentine%26#39;s is not a plus if you like to celebrate, only half the fun,
2) Your anniversary will always be on the worst day of the year to get a good table for two, will have to be booked far in advance to go out, and will be when waiters are overworked and can%26#39;t give you special attention.
3) You will not get special attention like upgrades on your anniversary later in life because it is Valentine%26#39;s Day.
Dinner -- are you guys Italian? Why Italian in Hawai%26#39;i? Is this the menu of the Cruise, or do you get input?
Alfredo will be heavy.
I would not do that to ono, smother it in the strong flavors. It is a simple fish that tastes great prepared simply, IMHO.
You know in February the waters can be rough. I don%26#39;t think I%26#39;d pin my whole wedding supper on a cruise. I%26#39;ve been on a cruise where the boat was rocking and rolling, and the plates and glasses were flying everywhere.
I didn%26#39;t enjoy eating a meal where I needed one hand to keep the plate on the table, another hand for my glass, and a third to hold silverware and eat ... an obvious hand shortage.
So I don%26#39;t mean to be negative about your plans, but now is when you can think about possible negatives and address them. On the day of it is too late.
What will you do if it storms? Do you have a backup plan?
oh, apologies, normally I read all the replies thoroughly but I was in a rush, I see now that the menu is standard for the cruise.
*And perhaps I am pre-disposed to not like it because both my husband and I don%26#39;t like eggplant, and they had ratatouille on the cruise I took as well, and it mean no veggies for us. It is one of those love it or loathe it type foods*
well, I agree that a pupus and drinks cruise is better than eating a real meal on the water, and I already said why.
as for valentines day we had already booked our return trip to Maui for Feb 8th - 15th and bringing our two 6 year old boys and moms with us.
I was proposed to in April on my 30th b-day in Disneyland (after the Maui reservation was made) so we figured why not just make it a wedding while in Maui. . .that led me to telling my dad and step-mom who said they HAVE to be there and offered to pay for my sister and brother-in-law, Chad, to go too. . .
my sister and Chad would never leave their 3 kids for that long and go that far away so we made a deal to pay for their kids airline tickets in exchange for their hottub.
Since most of the family was now going my dad and step-mom HAD to offer to get tickets for my younger sister and step-brother. I saved my dad some money by referring him for the $749 WKORV for 5 night deal. . . then I referred my co-worker and she%26#39;ll be joining us with her b/f as well.
This had led to our previous 1 week trip with just our moms and kids to a total of 17 people.
I can make a holiday out of just about any day and figured we%26#39;d save a little $ each year combining the two. . .I over do it on a daily basis anyways, so now i%26#39;ll always have an excuse to pick a random day to celebrate something. .
Heck I turned our visit to Seattle for a Seahawks preseason game into a huge romantic getaway. . we opted to fly instead of drive from Spokane, had a dinner cruise one night and fab seafood dinner the other, but the thing that topped it all off was being upgraded to the Presidential suite on the 47th floor at the Westin Seattle.
I just don%26#39;t see loosing out on an extra day to spend $. . Valentines Day is WAY too overrated. It just turned out that Saturday, Feb 14th was much better then Friday the 13th!!! :-)
Hi,
I was married on Valentines day on the beach too, but in Mexico. This is a wonderful day to get married. Very romantic and everyone we tell say ahhhhh. This will be a very special day for the rest of your lives, so be it if you have to book a table at your favorite restaurant months in advance....
What ever you decide it will be a lovely day. CONGRATS!!! PS ask the hotel to make the cake for you, ours did a great job and very unique.
