1) Who has the best steaks in Wailea (not Ruths%26#39; Chris)?
2) If you were going to eat one dinner in the Shops at Wailea, would you rather go to Longhi%26#39;s or Tommy Bahamas?
Two Wailea Dining Questions
had a pretty awesome beef tenderloin at the Seawatch on our last trip. Great seafood there as well.
Haven%26#39;t been to Longhi%26#39;s in the Shops at Wailea but have done their Lahaina location a couple of times. Wasn%26#39;t particularly blown away - just okay.
Two Wailea Dining Questions
For the price of Tommy%26#39;s or Longhi%26#39;s you can do Spago or DUO in the Four Seasons and have a great view of the ocean, but at the Shops at Wailea you get a view of the Wailea Beach Villas.
That%26#39;s what I thought. Does DUO have an ocean view?
We ate at Tommy Bahamas when we were there last year. Food was great but quite expensive. We didn%26#39;t eat at Longhi%26#39;s so I can%26#39;t comment on them.
I bought a book called %26#39;Top Maui Restaurants%26#39; before my last trip. Everything they said I found to be true. Looked up your steak question and was actually surprised. They believe that the best steaks on the island are at.....Longhi%26#39;s! They identify both Longhi%26#39;s locations and don%26#39;t distinguish any real food differences between the 2. They say the steaks at Makawao Steak House are also great but Longhi%26#39;s gets it for location.
Great...I had just eliminated Longhis from the list, LOL. DUO looked great for steaks, I found out it has a pool view which is fine.
So far I have...staying 3 nights at the Sheraton and 4 at the Marriott Wailea:
Sun - We%26#39;ll arrive tired and won%26#39;t want to think so will do the Sunday night Prime Rib buffet at the Sheraton.
Mon - B - Sheraton
D - Whaler%26#39;s village, just casual - Hula Grill? Leilani%26#39;s? Been to both in the past but really can%26#39;t remember anything about them.
Tues - B - Hyatt Buffet (want to sit by the swans)
D - Lahaina Grill
Wed - B - Check out of Sheraton, drive up to either Pineapple Grill or Plantation House for breakfast (depending on Time and lines), check into Marriott.
D - Mala at the Marriott
Thu - B - Seawatch
D - DUO
Fri - B - Marriott
D - Tommy Bahamas (this will be Halloween, we thought there might be a more festive atmosphere at the Shops at Wailea, NOT going to Lahaina)
Sat - B - Marriott
D - Capische?
I%26#39;ve tried to alternate casual with nicer...no lunches listed because we%26#39;ll either grab something light at the pool or out sightseeing.
So what do you all think? How would you tweak?
Glad to see Capishce? It%26#39;s our favorite in South Maui. Book says that DUO has excellent Kobe beef. From a personal point of view I%26#39;d swap out Lahaina Grill and do dinner at Plantation House. There%26#39;s no view from the Grill and the sunset view from Plantation is awesome! Finally, I think you%26#39;re missing out on a South gem doing breakfast at the Marriot on both Fri and Sat. Head for the Kihei Cafe on one of those days. It%26#39;s not fancy but the food is great (especially Loco Moco!!)
I%26#39;ve booked a rate at the Marriott which gives us a $250 credit which can%26#39;t be used for room and tax - hence the reason to try to up the food bill. Other option would be to rent a cabana - but they don%26#39;t look that exciting, just open air.
Also, can%26#39;t decide whether to sit in the garden or have an OV table at Capische...sunset is at 6, our reservation is at 5:30...
Good question. The sun can be very strong during the height of the sunset from balcony. The gardens would probably be more secluded/romantic. Personally, I%26#39;ll take the balcony with ocean and sunset any day!
